It's finally been released!
Yes, book 1.5 is finally here!
"Book 1.5," I hear you ask, "that's strange." Don't worry, I'll explain everything.
Book 1.5 isn't a little extra story in between, it's a full length book, it's just a prequel. You could consider it a separate story, that perfectly ties in with book 1, and lays the groundwork for the future book 2.
"Why should I read a separate story?" I hear you ask now. And I get it, you just got sucked into book 1, unable to forget it, wondering what will happen next, and then you suddenly have to get used to another character while waiting for book 2. But here's the fun thing: book 1.5 is from young Dayn's point of view.
And I know that for those of you that have read book 1, you can't wait to get to know Dayn just a little better!
What is the book about?
As I mentioned above, The White Eclipse follows Dayn from the moment he's born. Dayn's people have this ability to remember every detail of their entire life. In this reality, it's called highly superior autobiographical memory, but in the Magic's Source universe, it's called magic. And so, while on his way home with Thera and the others, he takes the time to remember how it all got to that point.
So, we follow (for the biggest part of the book) seven-year-old Dayn as he loses everything he has and loves, and he fights to survive in the new home he is taken away to by the man who destroyed his. Not to mention that he aches for vengeance and is willing to both kill and die to get it.
And in case you were wondering, yes, this is also where you find out how he knew all about Thera, why he is trying so hard to help her, and why he's wearing those artistic masks.
To summarize it, there's action, betrayal, unique friendships, humor, bullying, vengeance, a little romance, and lots of amazing magic!
Why Dayn?
If you've read The Essence of Magic, I'm sure that by now you're aware by now that Dayn is more than a little mysterious. He's not a big talker and he doesn't want anyone to know anything about him, he won't even show others most of his face. Hell, he didn't even tell Thera his name for the first few times they met.
Because of his difficult (but attractive) character, there's a lot no one, not Thera but also not you, will ever know about him. And I just cannot let that happen. Not to mention that book 2 is going to be an overwhelming read if I were to just forget about book 1.5.
And let's be honest, who is definitely in your top three favorite characters? Right? He's one of mine for sure!
